Understanding domestic abuse foundation course
By the end of the course delegates will have a greater awareness of:
- patterns and the impact of domestic abuse
- indicators of domestic abuse
- local services, policies and procedures
Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conference
MARAC Awareness Training is a half day event aiming to familiarise staff with the role and purpose of the MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference). By the end of the course participants will:
- understand the importance of multi agency working in relation to domestic abuse
- be familiar with the MARAC process and how to identify, assess and refer cases
Forced marriage multi-agency event
By attending the session delegates will:
- raise awareness of forced marriage/honour based violence
- understand indicators of Forced Marriage /honour based violence
- be able to identify good practice through a case study
- know about Multi agency guidance developed by the Forced Marriage Unit
Forced marriage and legal remedies
This training is a more detailed programme focusing specifically on the legal remedies available to victims or potential victims of forced marriage:
- What is a forced marriage?
- legal remedies
- forced marriages involving an adult/child
- ending a forced marriage
Domestic abuse and young people
By attending the session delegates will:
- Gain an understanding of the issues surrounding domestic abuse in young people’s relationships
- Gain an understanding of the impact of domestic abuse young people as victims and perpetrators
- Have an opportunity to review the research undertaken in this field
- Discuss the role of practitioners in addressing these issues as part of strategic and service plans.
Domestic abuse and alcohol multi-agency event
By attending the session delegates will:
- understand physical, psychological and behavioural effects of alcohol
- consider why perpetrators and victims of domestic abuse may misuse alcohol
- examine the impact of alcohol misuse on the family unit
- understand how the use of alcohol may increase incidences of domestic abuse
- consider the importance of routine assessment for alcohol misuse (raising the subject
- confidently and effectively; alcohol screening tools)
- familiarise with local and national alcohol services
